Jeff Koons HOT Dogs at Christie’s and The Dina Collection

Jeff Koons - Balloon Dog (Orange) at Christie’s

Koons Balloon DogOn November 12th, Christie’s Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale will offer Jeff Koons’s Balloon Dog (Orange), one of the first of the Balloon Dogs to be fabricated, and one of the most recognizable images in today’s canon of art history. This monumental work, with its flawless reflective surface and glorious color, is the most beloved of all contemporary sculptures.

Balloon Dog (Orange) is signed and dated ‘Jeff Koons 1994-2000′ (on the underside), made of mirror-polished stainless steel with transparent color coating, measures 121 x 143 x 45 in. (307.3 x 363.2 x 114.3 cm), and is one of five unique versions (Blue, Magenta, Orange, Red, Yellow). Christie’s estimates it will sell for a whopping $55 million dollars! Now that’s one hot dog!

This spectacular piece of art has graced the rooftop of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, Versailles Palace outside Paris, and Venice’s Grand Canal. The gigantic Balloon Dog creates an illusion of weightlessness and is an example of Koon’s highly desired and acclaimed Celebration Series, begun in the early 1990s. According to Christie’s the series evolved from Koons’s desire to recreate the ecstatic experiences of a child’s enjoyment of the world with universal signifiers.

Greenwich collector Peter Brant acquired Balloon Dog (Orange) in the late 1990s. He also owns the foremost private collector of works by Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Proceeds from the sale of Balloon Dog (Orange) will be used to help fund future activities of The Brant Foundation Art Study Center in Greenwich, CT.

Jeff Koons – Puppy Vase at The Dina Collection

Koons Puppy Vase

Christies isn’t the only one offering a beautiful piece of Jeff Koons art. Right here at The Dina Collection we have an original Jeff Koons Puppy Vase. Released by Gagosian in 1998, the porcelain Puppy Vase (a vase depicting a West Highland White Terrier) was signed and numbered by the artist, it had a limited run of 3,000 pieces each originally priced at $7,500.

The Puppy Vase was an homage to Koons’s 1992 giant puppy sculpture, a 43 ft (13 m) tall topiary sculpture of a West Highland White Terrier puppy, executed with over 20 thousand  flowers on a transparent colour-coated chrome stainless steel substructure. The giant floral puppy sculpture also graced the grounds of Peter Brant’s home in Connecticut.

Koons considers the Puppy Vase to be “A symbol of love, warmth, and happiness.” We consider the Puppy Vase to be absolutely adorable and a must have! It makes us smile every time we look at it, even without flowers in its well. Available now call us today for pricing.
